Guide to Great British Baking

Posted on 19 October 2019

The return of the Great British Bake Off has got lots of us thinking about creating our own incredible creations in the kitchen! We have compiled a list of essentials for your show stopping bakes.

Notebook

Having a notebook on hand is essential giving you space to jot down any measurements, changes, and design ideas to your recipes. Keep everything safely tucked away in one place. We have a range of personalised notebooks which can be debossed to say exactly what's in there i.e 'recipes' or it could include initials or short names.

Aprons

Every budding baker needs an apron! These are the best way to keep your clothes free from batter splatters, chocolate and of course flour. Why not treat yourself or a loved on to a personalised apron featuring a unique design.

Cake Moulds

Silicone cake moulds are a must! These are easy to use, non stick and come in all shapes and sizes, making it easy to bake some fabulous unique bakes. These often come in a range of vibrant colours to help brighten up you kitchen.

Cake Pans

A cake pan can really elevate a bakers experience, and the end product, by distributing heat quickly and evenly for the perfect bake every time. Cake pans are available in sets, including varying shapes and sizes Look for high quality pieces with added durability, and match against the size of cake they normally create.

Cake Stands

Who doesn't love a cake stand? There are plenty of different options on the market, including stands for cupcakes and domed, covered stands for larger cakes. Glass and chrome finishes will look great in any space, and are sure to win rave reviews for their next big bake.

Cookie Cutters

Cookie cutters are available in a wide range of different shapes and sizes. They are a great option for bakers that want to keep their creations uniform enough for the scrutinising eye of Paul Hollywood. Every budding baker needs a tasty cookie recipe and high-quality cutters to create fabulous tasty treats.

Electric Mixers

Invest in an electric mixer, time-saving and less labour-intensive than mixing by hand. Go for a mixer with a fun design or rendered in a bright colour, as this will look great in the kitchen even when it's not in use – and could even entice others who wouldn't normally try their hand at baking to give it a go.

Tool Caddy

A tool caddy is the perfect place to store their growing collection of brushes, spatulas, piping tips and anything else that they could possibly need. Simple and straightforward, some of the best caddies have a variety of drawers and compartments to help keep everything organised and provide a special space for each item.

Cake Decorating Set

This gift can range from items designed to add more creativity to the top and sides of a cake (such as decorating tip sets) or even ready-made pieces which can be placed on a cake for instant wow-factor. If you're going for this option, adapt it to suit the skills of the baker you're shopping for, and watch as they continue to develop their talents!
